During the broadcast of the event Fantasia Bunko Housoukyoku Aki no Dai Kanshasai, the publisher Kadokawa announced that the light novel series King's Proposal (Ousama no Proposse), written by Koushi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, it will have one anime adaptation currently in production. Although no further details have been revealed at this time, a special illustration made by Tsunako to commemorate the announcement was shared.
This new production marks the return of the creative duo responsible for Date A Live, one of the most successful light novel franchises of the last decade. The announcement was received with enthusiasm by fans of the original saga, as it is a new work by the same authors after the closing of the main story of Date A Live in 2020.
King's Proposal presents a Saika Kuozaki, a powerful sorceress capable of stopping mysterious entities that threaten to destroy the world every 300 hours. However, after being mortally wounded, she transfers her powers and body to an ordinary boy named Mushiki Kuga. Now, Mushiki must attend a wizard academy disguised as Saika, trying to control the abilities he inherited while keeping his true identity a secret.
Franchise details
Koushi Tachibana he released the novels in 2021 under the seal Fantasia Bunko from Kadokawa, and the work currently has eight volumes published in Japan. In parallel, Nemo Kurio he made an adaptation to the manga that was published on the platform Bargan Online between 2023 and 2024, ending with six volumes. Abroad, the publishing house Yen Press it publishes the series in English and will release its seventh volume on January 6, 2026.
The creators behind the project
