The perfect mix between the adorable and the scary is yet to come. The official website for the anime adaptation of Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (Kaya-chan Isn't Scary) revealed a second promotional video full of news. The announcement confirmed that the series will premiere on January 11, 2026, in addition to introducing the artists of the musical themes and new cast members.
The video offered a preview of the opening theme, "Maboroshi no Yukue", performed by the virtual singer Isekaijoucho. For its part, the closing theme is titled "Playmour feat. Kaya-chan" and it will be performed by the artists SAK and TAO, with the participation of the protagonist Kaya (voice of Azusa Tachibana).
Production team
The series is being animated by East Fish Studio under the direction of Hiroshi Ikehata (Tonikaku Kawaii). The scripts are supervised by Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombie Land Saga), while the character design is carried out by Taro Yamada and Hiroyuki Moriguchi. The music is composed by Kohta Yamamoto and Shun Narita.
The original work of Yuritaro it is published on the website Kurage Bunch of Shinchosha since April 2022. The story follows Kaya, a kindergarten girl with overwhelming spiritual power who dedicates herself to exorcising evil spirits, often without the adults realizing the seriousness of the situation.
