The most
powerful "Slime" in anime is preparing its return to the big screen.
The official website of the film Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken: Soukai
no Namida-hen (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of
the Azure Sea) revealed a new promotional video, a key visual and the
official release date. This original story will hit Japanese theaters on February
27, 2026.
New
characters and theme song
The trailer
offers a glimpse into the plot, which will take place in the underwater kingdom
of Kaien, and presents the main theme of the film, titled "Utopia",
performed by the singer-songwriter TRUE. Additionally, three new
original characters and their respective voices were announced:
Production
team
The film is
being animated by the studio 8bit, with Yasuhito Kikuchi (first
season director) returning to direct this feature film. The script is in charge
of Toshizou Nemoto, while Ryouma Ebata come back
to design the characters and Hitoshi Fujima (from Elements
Garden) composes the music.
Context
of the franchise
This is the second film in the franchise after the success of Scarlet Bond in 2022. The series, based on the novels of Fuse, has surpassed the 56 million copies in circulation. The story follows Rimuru Tempest and his allies, and this new installment promises a completely original adventure set after the events of the third season.
