The romcom novels Haibara's Teenage New Game+ will have an anime adaptation

Who hasn't wanted to go back to high school to fix their mistakes? An official website has been launched to announce the anime adaptation of the light novels Haibara's Teenage New Game+ (Haibara-kun no Tsuyokute Seishun New Game), written by Kazuki Amamiya. The announcement came accompanied by a first promotional video, a key visual and confirmation that the series will premiere in april 2026 through the chain TBS.

Lead vocal cast


The main couple will be played by:


  • Yuto Uemura (Tamaki Amajiki in My Hero AcademiaAtsushi Nakajima in Bungo Stray Dogs) as Natsuki Haibara.
  • Kanon Takao (Hina Tsurugi in Diary of Our Days at the BreakwaterYui Saikawa in The Detective Is Already Dead) as Hikari Hoshimiya.

Production team


The animation will be in charge of Studio Comet, under the direction of Misuzu Hoshino (The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious). The composition of the series will be supervised by Keiichiro Ochi (The Quintessential Quintuplets), with character designs by Hiromi Ono. The music will be composed by Sonosuke Takao.


The story continues Natsuki Haibara, a college student with social anxiety who deeply regrets his gray and lonely school life. Inexplicably, he travels seven years into the past, just before starting high school. Armed with online guides and plenty of willpower, Haibara will try to rebuild his life to become the popular boy and conquer the girl of his dreams.


The original novel won the grand prize at the HJ Novel Award 2020 and it entered its final arc with the ninth volume published in July.
