When Netflix confirmed
the live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling in July
2025, the excitement was palpable. But today, a viral post from the AniEMPIRE account
has set off alarm bells in the community: apparently, the production could be
planning to turn the ultimate power fantasy into a romantic drama.
According to the
publication, which already exceeds 800,000 views on X,
the director of the series would prioritize an "intense romance"
between Sung Jin-woo (played by Byeon Woo-seok)
and Cha Hae-in (the possible Han So-hee). This has
divided fans: while some celebrate the visual "dream couple," most
fear that the pure action essence of Chugong's work will be
diluted to appeal to traditional K-drama audiences.
The essence
at stake
Let's remember
that the original Webtoon has more than 14 billion
views precisely because of its battles and the lonely evolution of the
protagonist, leaving romance in the background very subtly. Although Netflix has
not confirmed this change of direction, the mere idea of seeing Sung
Jin-woo more concerned with love than with dungeons has sparked an
intense debate on networks.
