The
legendary retired assassin has hit the big screen with all his weight... and
their ability. The first official teaser for the live-action SAKAMOTO
DAYS film has been released, revealing for the first time Ren
Meguro playing protagonist Taro Sakamoto in his
iconic 140-kilogram rugged form. The trailer confirmed that the film, directed
by the king of Japanese comedy Yuichi Fukuda, will be released
on April 29, 2026.
A
four-hour transformation
The focal
point of the trailer is Meguro's stunning characterization. The actor not only
plays the slim and lethal version of Sakamoto (when he burns calories in
serious mode), but also his everyday and plump way. To achieve this look,
Meguro underwent special makeup sessions of approximately four hours a
day during filming. The video highlights the duality of the character:
the warmth and tranquility of his "plump" form contrasted with
superhuman action movements that challenge his physique.
Cast and
Plot
In addition
to Sakamoto, the teaser offers a glimpse of his partner Shin Asakura,
played by Fumiya Takahashi, in intense combat sequences. Scenes
from family life that Sakamoto so zealously guards were also shown, featuring
his wife Aoi (Aya Ueto) and daughter Hana (Miyu
Yoshimoto).
Based on Yuto Suzuki's hit manga serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump, the story follows Taro Sakamoto, the strongest assassin who left everything for love. Now, as a convenience store owner, he must defend his peaceful family life from the ghosts of his past in the criminal underworld.
