Seishun Buta Yarou's new film will hit theaters in autumn 2026

Puberty Syndrome is nearing its ultimate conclusion. Aniplex announced on Sunday that the film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend (Seishun Buta Yaro wa Dear Friend no Yume o Minai), the latest adaptation of the light novel franchise, will be released in theaters in Japan in the fall of 2026. The film shares the title with the 15th and final volume of the original work, promising to take the story to its conclusion.

Along with the announcement, a teaser visual was revealed that contains an alarming message for the followers of the leading couple: "Find Toko Kirishima, Mai is in danger." This conflict seems to be the narrative core of the new installment.


Return of the cast and staff


The creative team that has led the franchise to success returns under the production of CloverWorks. Director Soichi Masui returns to the helm of the project, along with screenwriter Masahiro Yokotani and character designer Satomi Tamura. The band fox capture plan will be in charge of the music again.


The road to the end


This film follows the events of the college arc, recently adapted into the anime Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, released in July of this year. With more than 3 million copies in circulation, Hajime Kamohida's work is preparing to close the curtain.
