The most delicate human drama of the winter season already has a date. The official website for the anime adaptation of Ikoku Nikki (Journal with Witch), based on the acclaimed manga by Tomoko Yamashita, revealed its second promotional video and a key visual. The announcement confirmed that the series will begin airing on January 4, 2026.
The new trailer offers a preview of the characters' voices and features the opening theme, "Sound", performed by the singer-songwriter TOMOO. The closing theme, "Kotozute", will be in charge of the pop duo Bialystocks. The key visual shows the protagonists, Makio and Asa, standing in a desert landscape, evoking the emotional resonance and loneliness that the work explores.
Staff and Production
The series is produced by the studio Shuka under the direction of Miyuki Oshiro. The scripts are the responsibility of Kohei Kiyasu (My Home Hero), while Kenji Hayama design the characters and kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man, To Silent Voice) compose the music.

The manga of Tomoko Yamashita it was published in the magazine Feel Young between 2017 and 2023. The story has been nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award and occupied prominent positions on the list Kono Manga ga Sugoi!, being praised for its depiction of the coexistence between a novelist aunt and her orphaned teenage niece.
