The most extravagant school chaos is back, but this time adapted to modern times. The staff of the new television anime based on the High School! Kimengumi (High School! Motoei Shinzawa's Funny-Face Club) revealed a promotional video full of news on Friday. The trailer confirms that the series will debut on January 9, 2026 within the prestigious Noitamina block.
The musical project is produced by the famous DJ and producer of future funk, Night Tempo. The video teases the main themes:
- Opening: "Funky Spice feat. TOMOO" performed by BREIMEN.
- Ending: "Suteki!!" performed by Rikon Densetsu.
- Special Song: A cover of the classic theme from the first anime, "Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi", performed by voice actresses Haruka Shiraishi and Ikumi Hasegawa with modern arrangements by Night Tempo.

A classic in the Reiwa era
Unlike the original manga and 1985 anime that were set in the 80s, this new adaptation will move the story and its eccentric characters to the modern era Reiwa. The direction is in charge of Kazuaki Seki (known for music videos for Perfume and Gen Hoshino) at Animation Studio Seven.
