The battle
for a place on the final court has begun. The anime The Prince of
Tennis II U-17 WORLD CUP Final Team Selection Arc has officially
confirmed that it is scheduled to air in the fall of 2026. The
announcement, made on December 20, was accompanied by a visual teaser that
highlights two of the pillars of the series: Ryoma Echizen and Shusuke
Fuji.
The
prelude to the final against Spain
After the
broadcast in 2024 of the semi-final arc, where Japan played fierce matches
against Germany, this new sequel will focus on the critical phase prior to the
grand final of the U-17 World Cup against Spain. Ahead of that
decisive international match, the story will portray the intense internal
battles within the Japanese national team, as players compete fiercely for
limited spots in the final lineup.
Franchise
Legacy
The
original work began its adaptation to anime in 2001, becoming a benchmark in
the sports genre. Its sequel, The Prince of Tennis II, has
taken the competition from national tournaments to the world stage since its
serialization in 2012 and subsequent animated adaptations.
