The yuri romance that conquered fans will have a generational continuation. Writer Inori revealed last week that her bestselling story I'm in Love with the Villainess (Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijō) will feature a sequel titled Furimukinasai, Watakushi ni! (Turn Your Gaze Toward Me!).

The first volume of this new novel will be released in digital format on January 26. To the delight of fans, original illustrator Hanagata returns to take care of the art. The plot will take a time jump to focus on Aleah, the daughter of the original protagonists Rae and Claire.

Franchise trajectory

Inori began the original series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō site in 2018, ending it in 2021, with GL Bunko publishing the edited digital version. The franchise has enjoyed sustained popularity thanks to its manga adaptation by AONOSHIMO in Comic Yuri Hime magazine and its anime adaptation released in October 2023 (available on Crunchyroll).

The universe of the series had previously expanded with the spin-off Heimin no Kuse ni Namaikina!, which reimagined the story from Claire's perspective. Now, with this direct sequel, the narrative moves into the future.
