The
supernatural mysteries of the Taisho era will soon hit the screen. Production
on the Recommendation from Mr. Iwamoto (Iwamoto Senpai no
Suisen) anime, based on the popular manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi,
creator of the acclaimed Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan series,
has been officially announced. Along with the news, the first promotional
video and a visual starring red spider lilies were revealed.

will be handled by Studio Deen, with Toshifumi Kawase (director
of Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii) spearheading the project.
The character design falls to Atsuko Nakajima, who worked as chief
animation director on The Apothecary Diaries.

A
supernatural military mission
Set in the
1910s, the story follows Kodo Iwamoto, a student at Seihou High
School, an institution under the direct jurisdiction of the Imperial Japanese
Army. By military order, Kodo travels the country investigating paranormal
phenomena to recruit people with extraordinary abilities. Their mission is to
offer them a "recommendation" to serve the military, weaving a human
drama among those seeking their place in a turbulent era.
