The
laid-back, tobacco-scented romance finally has an arrival date. The official
website for the anime adaptation of the manga Smoking Behind the
Supermarket with You (Yani Su Futari's Super no Ura) revealed
its first promotional video and a new visual on Friday. The announcement
confirmed that the series will premiere next July on TBS and
27 other networks, under the production of Asahi Production.
The series
will star a couple of actors with very interesting registers:
- Takuya Sato as Sasaki
Recognized for his roles as Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Albert James Moriarty in Moriarty the Patriot. - Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama
Famous for playing Riamu Yumemi in The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls and Mimimi Nanami in Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki.
About
the work
The story
follows Sasaki, a middle-aged office worker burdened by corporate
work. Their only consolation, besides smoking, is the smile of Yamada,
a friendly employee of the local supermarket. One night, after missing Yamada's
shift and looking for a place to smoke, he meets a girl in a biker jacket
named Tayama, who invites him to a secret smoking area behind the
store.
The manga,
created by Jinushi, began on X (Twitter) in 2022 before being
serialized in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine.
The work has been acclaimed for its mature and comforting tone, winning eighth
place at the 2023 Manga Taisho Awards.
