One of the longest-running romantic comedies of the decade is preparing its farewell. This Wednesday, January 28, 2026, with the publication of issue 9 of Weekly Shonen Magazine, the final arc of A Couple of Cuckoos (Kakkou no Iinazuke) officially began. The work written and illustrated by Miki Yoshikawa thus enters its completion stage after six years of serialization.


The news has generated various reactions among fans who have accompanied the story of Nagi Umino and Erika Amano since its debut in 2020, marking the beginning of closure for the romantic conflicts and family secrets of the plot.

Although the exact duration of this last arc has not been specified, the confirmation comes after the publication of the 31st compilation volume on January 16. The story will focus on resolving outstanding plots, including love rivalries with Hiro Segawa and the search for Erika's long-lost biological brother, Sosuke.

The series began its regular serialization on January 29, 2020 in Kodansha magazine. The premise follows Nagi, a diligent student, and Erika, a rich and outgoing girl, who discover that they were changed at birth and whose parents decide to compromise them to keep the family together.
