The Chainsaw
Demon's dominance is absolute. The social film platform Letterboxd published
this week its annual Year in Review 2025 summary, confirming
that Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc won the title of the
Highest Rated Overall of the entire year.
The production of
the MAPPA studio, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara,
surpassed in score critics favorites and great productions such as Marty
Supreme, Sinners and One Battle After Another.
In addition to the top prize, the film led three other prestigious lists:
- Best
rated Asian film.
- Best
Rated Animated Film.
- Best Rated Directorial Debut (for Yoshihara).

from the cast
In response to the
news, the voices behind the characters shared messages of gratitude to the
global community. Among them were Kikunosuke Toya (Denji's Japanese
voice) and the cast of the English dub: Ryan Colt Levy (Denji), Alexis
Tipton (Reze), Casey Mongillo (Angel Devil) and Suzie
Yeung (Makima).
Commercial
success in Japan
Beyond the online
reviews, the film has been a monster at the box office. In Japan, it has
grossed more than 10.15 billion yen with more than 6.65
million tickets sold. The film has a script by Hiroshi Seko,
character design by Kazutaka Sugiyama and music by Kensuke
Ushio.
