The youthful romance that conquered digital readers finally has a date for its leap to the screen. Netflix revealed on Saturday an English-subtitled trailer for the anime adaptation of The Ramparts of Ice (Koori no Jyōheki), confirming that the series will premiere globally on the platform on April 2.

In Japan, the broadcast will begin that same day through the TBS network and its affiliates, arriving in the Japanese Netflix catalog a day later. The ad was accompanied by a new visual that introduces the group of four protagonists who will try to navigate the complications of youth.

The animation is by Studio KAI under the direction of Mankyū. The scripts for the series are in the hands of Yasuhiro Nakanishi, known for his work on high-profile romantic comedies. The main cast includes:

  • Anna Nagase as Koyuki Hikawa
  • Fūka Izumi as Miki Azumi
  • Shōya Chiba as Minato Amamiya
  • Satoshi Inomata as Yota Hino

About The Ramparts of Ice

The original work is a manga created by Kōcha Agasawa (author of the hit You and I Are Polar Opposites). It was originally serialized as a webtoon on the LINE Manga app between 2020 and 2022, before publisher Shueisha published its print version, the final volume of which arrived in February 2025.

The story centers on Koyuki Hikawa, a distant student who builds an emotional wall between herself and others to avoid getting hurt. Her isolation is challenged when Minato Amamiya begins to get closer to her, initiating a story of personal growth alongside other classmates. The work was so popular that it reached #2 in AnimeJapan's "Most Anticipated Anime" poll in 2023 and #15 in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide.
