The animated adaptation of the legendary wine drama Drops of God is ready for its television debut. The production committee officially announced that the series will premiere on April 10 and, in a rather ambitious move, confirmed that it will be broadcast for two consecutive cours (that is, half a year of uninterrupted broadcasting).

To accompany this great news, a new promotional video was published that gives us a preview of the intense and rich battle that will revolve around the search for the mythical wine that gives its name to the work. In addition, they revealed a spectacular visual image starring Shizuku Kanzaki and Issei Tomine, who appear face to face with an imposing illustrated wine glass in the background. The series will be able to tune in Japan through the TOKYO MX, BS NTV and Kansai TV networks.

Drops of God anime details

The production is in charge of the Satelight studio, with Kenji Itoso directing. The scripts will be in charge of Yuu Mitsuru (Sousei no Aquarion: Myth of Emotions), the character design is signed by Soudai Suwa (Sentouin, Haken shimasu!), and the music is in charge of Eishi Segawa, known for Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai.

What is the story about?

Shizuku Kanzaki is the son of a famous wine critic who, after the death of his father, discovers that inheritance will not be automatic: to keep the family fortune he will have to identify twelve legendary wines known as the "Tears of God", competing against Issei Tomine, the disciple his father adopted in life. The problem is that Shizuku was never interested in wine.

About the work

Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto's manga was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Morning between November 2004 and June 2014, surpassing 15 million copies in circulation. Its impact was such that it is credited with generating a worldwide boom in wine consumption. The franchise has two manga sequels, a 2009 Japanese live-action series and a jointly produced international series between Japan, France and the United States that premiered its second season in January 2026.
