Reincarnation
and the absolute mastery of magic are preparing to conquer the summer
season. Square Enix announced Friday that the manga will
inspire an anime adaptation of From Overshadowed to Overpowered (Rakudai
Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Bōkenroku),
which is scheduled to premiere in July.
The
statement specifically highlighted that this animated series will adapt the
manga version illustrated by Kentarou, which in turn is based on
the popular fantasy light novel series written by Arata Shiraishi.
From
Overshadowed to Overpowered Anime Details
The series
will be produced by the EMT Squared studio, under the
direction of Hisashi Ishii. The story is composed by Deko
Akao, while the character designs adapted to the animation are the
responsibility of Hideki Furukawa.

About the work
The story
follows Ephtal, a sage of the wind who was reincarnated from modern
Earth into a world of magic. After dedicating his entire life to magical study
and realizing that he had no natural talent, he dies full of anguish. However,
400 years later, he reincarnates once again with all his knowledge and power
intact.
To his
surprise, he discovers that the magical civilization has declined
significantly. In this era where powerful spells are a rarity, his
"talentless" self turns out to be completely unmatched. Together with
the young slave Anastasia and Merlin, the director
of a prestigious academy who was once his disciple, Ephtal will begin his
ascent from the lowest to the top of magical power, revolutionizing the common
sense of the academy.
