Going back to high school is the last resort for a hitman trapped in the body of a teenager. The production committee has officially announced that the anime adaptation of the Kill Blue manga will begin airing on Japanese television during the month of April on TV Tokyo and its affiliated stations.

The update was accompanied by the release of the second promotional trailer and a second promotional image of the project. This video preview allows us to hear for the first time the musical themes that will accompany the series: the opening song entitled "ATTITUDE", performed by the popular South Korean group aespa, and the ending theme song "KILL SHOT", by the South Korean boy band RIIZE, marking the debut of the latter group in the Japanese animation industry.

The animation production takes place at Studio CUE's facilities, marking the company's debut as the lead studio for a television series following its founding in 2023 by developer DMM and former Production I.G. creatives. The general direction of the project falls to Hiro Kaburagi, while the character designs are adapted to animation by Miho Daidoji.

About the work

The plot follows Juzo Ogami, a legendary hitman who has never failed a mission. After an unexplained incident during a job, he wakes up trapped in the body of a teenager with no memory of how it happened. To discover the truth behind his transformation, he is forced to enroll in high school, the last place he ever thought he would set foot again. Now, the world's deadliest hitman must camouflage himself among ordinary students as he tries to fulfill his mysterious personal mission.

The original work, written and illustrated by mangaka Tadatoshi Fujimaki (creator of Kuroko's Basketball), began serialization in the pages of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in April 2023. The manga concluded its publication on September 1 of last year, compiling the story into a total of 13 printed volumes. The release of its final tome in December coincided with the publication of a spin-off light novel titled Kill Blue Secret Report.
