About
the franchise
The main
story follows Iruma Suzuki, a kind-hearted fourteen-year-old
teenager who, after being sold to a demon by his own parents, ends up being
adopted by this old man from the underworld who longed to have a grandchild. To
maintain his façade, Iruma is enrolled in the prestigious demonic school
Babyls, where he must survive by hiding his human nature while, ironically,
earning the respect of the most fearsome creatures of his kind.
The
original work, written and illustrated by mangaka Osamu Nishi,
began serialization in the pages of Akita Shoten's Weekly
Shonen Champion magazine in March 2017. The success of the title
allowed the production of a first animated adaptation released in autumn 2019,
consolidating the franchise on television with multiple sequels broadcast
uninterruptedly over the years.
