Reincarnating
inside a fantasy video game is a common scenario nowadays, but doing so knowing
exactly how to break all the mechanics in your favor is the ultimate fantasy of
any hardcore gamer. Publishing company TO Books has
made official the production of an animated adaptation for the bestselling
light novel Reincarnation in the Game World Dankatsu. To celebrate
this important news, the committee released a special commemorative
illustration confirming the start of television development of this
long-awaited isekai.
Details
of Reincarnation in the Game World Dankatsu
As it was
an announcement in its earliest pre-production phase, the publisher kept the
technical details of the series under strict padlock. At the moment, it has not
been revealed which animation studio will be in charge of the project, nor who
will make up the team of directors or the cast of seiyuus. All this
vital information will be gradually uncovered in future updates as the calendar
of the year progresses.
What is
the story about?
The premise
follows a passionate gamer who, overnight, discovers that he has been
reincarnated as Zephyrus, the absolute protagonist of his favorite title and
considered by him to be a "god-level" game: Dungeon Job
Hunting Recommendation (affectionately known as DanKatsu). Far from
panicking about his new reality, the boy is absolutely delighted. Now he has
the opportunity to live in the flesh within a massive system that has the
absurd amount of 1,021 playable classes and more than 400 different endings.
Armed with
encyclopedic knowledge about every little secret, weakness, and mechanic of the
game, Zephyrus wastes no time and immediately enrolls in the Labyrinth Academy.
Their goal is crystal clear: to secure the legendary "Hero" class.
Guiding their childhood friend to the Alchemist route, the duo is ready to grab
the rarest loot on the server and farm levels at a breakneck
pace that will leave everyone open-mouthed.
About
the original work
Author Kaede
Nishikigi began publishing this action-fantasy story through the web
portals Kakuyomu and Shosetsuka ni Naro in
early 2021. Thanks to its addictive theme of video game collection and
strategy, the work was quickly acquired by TO Books, releasing its
first printed volume in March 2022 with the incredible illustrations of the
artist Shuri. Currently, the franchise boasts 350,000 copies in
circulation, and its long-awaited fifteenth volume will go on sale in Japan
this coming March 15.
