If you're
already fed up with classic school anime and generic isekai, get ready for a
historic journey that promises to shake up the summer season. The production
committee of the animated adaptation of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia (known
in Japan as Tenmaku no Jadugar) has just released its second
promotional trailer. This spectacular trailer not only lets us see the incredible
art direction characteristic of the Science SARU studio, but
also confirms that the series will land on Japanese television on July
4 with a brutal one-hour special episode. And to put the cherry on the
cake, the popular band SEKAI NO OWARI will be in charge of
performing "Stella", the opening theme song.
To bring to
life the betrayals, relentless politics, and towering figures of the thirteenth
century, acclaimed director Naoko Yamada spared no resources
for the recording booth. The main cast we already knew (led by Houko Kuwashima
as Fatima), has just been joined by legendary voices from the industry to play
the feared family of Emperor Genghis Khan:
- Kenji Nojima as Jochi Recognized
in the otaku community for being Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon
Crystal and Nobuchika Ginoza in Psycho-Pass, who will
play the emperor's eldest son.
- Ami Koshimizu as Toregene The
mythical voice of Ryuko Matoi in Kill la Kill and Holo
in Spice and Wolf, taking the role of Ogedei's sixth wife who
holds a deep resentment towards the empire.
- Hiro Shimono as Ogedei Famous
worldwide for being Zenitsu Agatsuma in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no
Yaiba and Dabi in My Hero Academia.
- Daisuke Namikawa as Chagatai The legend behind Hisoka in Hunter x Hunter (2011) and Ulquiorra Cifer in Bleach, playing Genghis Khan's second son.
Synopsis
of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia
The story
takes us back to the era of the ruthless Mongol Empire during the thirteenth
century, following in the footsteps of Fatima, a woman originally from Persia
who possesses medical and scientific knowledge that was extremely advanced for
her time. Forced to travel to these vast and unknown lands, she becomes deeply
involved in the complex and deadly web of political intrigue that dominates the
imperial palace. In the midst of this hostile environment, he will form a
powerful and unbreakable bond with Toregene, the sixth wife of Ogedei Khan.
Together, these two strong women will find themselves at the center of massive
historical events, using their intelligence and determination to survive and
potentially change the future of the entire empire and the entire world.
