If you are
one of those who can't resist a good michi and you love fantasy, make a space
on your list for the summer season. The production committee behind The
Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryu for Japanese purists) has
just released its second promotional trailer and a new official image,
reminding us that this little gem animated by the OLM studio
will arrive on our screens next July.
A cast
that mixes legends and new stars
To bring
this peculiar world of magical creatures to life, we already knew that they had
titans of the industry such as Takehito Koyasu (Nekoryu) and Kikuko Inoue
(Mama-nyan), but the team decided to take out the wallet and add three
important talents for the secondary characters. The newly confirmed
lineup includes:
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Gally
The unmistakable Anya Forger in Spy x Family and the legendary elf in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. - Chika Anzai as Anne Rossa
Recognized worldwide for giving life to Chisato Nishikigi in Lycoris Recoil and Queen Kousaka in Sound! Euphonium. - Junya Enoki as Stan
Famous for being Yuji Itadori himself in Jujutsu Kaisen and Nasa Yuzaki in TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You.
The
veterans in charge of the magic on screen
The
direction of this work falls on the shoulders of Jin-Koo Oh (who
already showed his good touch in Tonbo!), while the scripts are
being polished by Mitsutaka Hirota, the same one who adapted the
madness of Edens Zero. And if the trailer sounded epic to you, it's
because the soundtrack is by Takahiro Obata, the musical genius
behind the unforgettable tension of The Promised Neverland.
Basically, they put together a team that knows perfectly how to handle the construction
of fantasy worlds without missing a beat.
Synopsis
of The Cat and the Dragon
The story
takes us to a fantasy world where a huge and lonely dragon, feared by many
creatures, finds a small magical cat abandoned to its fate. Instead of
devouring him, the imposing dragon decides to adopt and raise him, creating an
unbreakable bond between two completely opposite beings. As the feline grows up
under the beast's tutelage, he begins to explore the world on his own,
interacting with human adventurers, elves, and other species, and proving that
even the most fearsome creatures have a soft side when it comes to pampering a
cat.
