Finding a wife was never a normal assassin's
mission, but that's exactly Hikaru's situation. Marriage Toxin confirmed
its second season with premiere scheduled for 2027,
announced during the broadcast of the final episode of the first season on
Wednesday. The team accompanied the news with a special announcement video.
The first season, released on April 7,
followed Hikaru Gero, heir to the Gero family of the Poison
Masters, whose life in the underworld has kept him completely away from love or
marriage. When the head of the family decrees that Hikaru's sister must give
birth to an heir to preserve the lineage, Hikaru decides to protect her and
ends up asking for help from Mei Kinosaki, a brilliant marriage
swindler. With Mei as his advisor, the elite assassin undertakes the
complicated mission of finding a wife, in a high-risk partnership between a
murderer and a con artist that sets the particular tone of the series.
For now, there are no details about the exact
premiere date, cast or production team for the second season. That information
is expected in the coming months.
The Production Team
The first season was directed by Motonobu
Hori at Bones Film, with production supervision from BONES. Kimiko
Ueno was in charge of the script and composition of the series,
while Kohei Tokuoka was in charge of character design and lead
animation direction. The opening "Kill or Kiss" was
performed by Yurina Hirate, and the ending "Shake Na
Baby" by AKASAKI.
Marriage Toxin is a manga by Jomyaku and Mizuki
Yoda that began publication on the Shonen Jump+ app
in April 2022, with seventeen volumes compiled through April 2026 and
serialization still ongoing. The premise combines the killer thriller with the
romantic comedy in an unusual way: instead of a direct romance, the central
dynamic is born from a professional alliance between two people who are experts
in opposite worlds but equally dangerous in their own way.
