The retired hitman returns to action. Sakamoto
Days confirmed its second season with a premiere
scheduled for January 2027, and the announcement came loaded:
promotional image, teaser, change of director and three new additions to the
cast for the JCC Infiltration Arc, the arc where Sakamoto and Shin
get directly into the most dangerous assassin academy in the world.
The new promo image shows Taro Sakamoto and Shin
Asakura back to back preparing to infiltrate the Japan Clear
Creation Academy (JCC). Sakamoto appears with a pen as a weapon,
randomly assigned during an entrance exam, while Shin wears upgraded gloves as
part of his equipment. The teaser shows Sakamoto disguised as his wife Aoi as
he infiltrates the academy as a substitute teacher, and Shin attending as a
regular student while secretly gathering information. Characters like Natsuki
Seba and Akira Akao also appear, and the video
introduces several new faces.
The Production Team
Daisuke Nakajima, who has been involved with the series since
the first season, takes over the full direction for the second. In his remarks,
he highlighted the honor of working on a Weekly Shonen Jump title
with such a following, noting that the team's goal is to capture the stylized
action and unique philosophies of the assassins created by Yuto Suzuki,
building on the foundation laid in the first installment.
