If we talk about the fundamental pillars that
formed an entire generation of otakus, it is impossible not to mention the
absolute kings of the risqué romantic comedy. To celebrate in a big way, Jump
GIGA 2026 SUMMER magazine announced that it will publish a special
chapter of the legendary manga To Love Ru (To LOVE
ru -toraburu-) this coming August 17, thus commemorating the twentieth
anniversary of a franchise that simply refuses to be forgotten
by the community.
To the joy of the purists, this long-awaited
return will feature the legendary original duo at the helm. Illustrator Kentaro
Yabuki will take the pencils while Saki Hasemi will
be in charge of the scripts to deliver a brand new twenty-five-page
one-shot that will have the immense honor of opening the magazine in
full color. But the celebrations don't end there, as this same publishing
industry issue will include another epic return: author Tadahiro
Miura's acclaimed Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (Yuuna
and the Haunted Hot Springs) also joins the party with a special
seventeen-page story to celebrate its own fifteen years of existence.
Physical gifts and pure nostalgia
As is customary in the Japanese market, fans
who decide to buy the print edition of the magazine will take home a real swag.
The post will include spectacular bonuses such as exclusive postcards of Yuuna
and a bold poster of Yui Kotegawa soaked in the rain. As if that were not
enough, buyers will have the option to purchase a limited edition figure based
on this new illustration of To Love Ru by mail. Considering
that the original serialization ended in 2009 and its sequel Darkness concluded
almost a decade ago, these sporadic returns are real gems for
the veteran fandom.
Seeing that the original authors still enjoy
drawing these iconic heroines and that the franchise's merchandise continues to
sell like hotcakes
