The
Type-Moon universe is ready to hit the table in movie theaters with one of the
most acclaimed studios in the industry. The official website of the animated
adaptation of Mahoutsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night)
presented the final trailer of the feature film, confirming its official
release date in Japan for November 20, along with an avalanche of
details that will excite all its followers.
The great
surprise of this new advance lies in its musical section. The creative group supercell
returns to the franchise with a completely new song entitled Yoru to Ao (Night
and Blue), composed and arranged by ryo. The most impressive thing about this
collaboration is the vocal participation of Nagi Yanagi, who returns to
record a new song with supercell after almost fifteen years of absence,
bringing back the nostalgia that made players fall in love with the original
title.
The film
project is on behalf of the acclaimed UFOTABLE studio, guaranteeing
technical quality and dazzling combat sequences. The direction is in charge of Masashi
Takeuchi with the supervision of Hikaru Kondo as general director,
while the character design is in the hands of Moe Tsuzuki. For its part,
the musical composition was entrusted to Hideyuki Fukasawa, promising a
setting at the height of the original literary work.
The voice
cast maintains the figures that immortalized the characters in modern versions
of the game. Renowned actress Haruka Tomatsu will lend her voice to Aoko
Aozaki, while Kana Hanazawa will play the enigmatic Alice Kuonji and Yusuke
Kobayashi will play the young Soujyuro Sizuki. In addition, to celebrate
the theatrical release, the mobile version of the original visual novel will be
available on November 20.
Mahoutsukai
no Yoru is a story
originally conceived by Kinoko Nasu and illustrated by Takashi
Takeuchi in the mid-1990s, years before the founding of the famed Type-Moon
label. Although it was initially born as a book shared between friends, the
work made the leap to the visual novel format in April 2012 with art by
Hirokazu Koyama, occupying a fundamental place within the shared universe of
the author's works by addressing the origins of the Aozaki sisters.
Set in the
late 1980s, the plot follows Aoko Aozaki, a high school student who overnight
becomes the heir to her family's magical lineage. Despite her little interest
in the arcane arts, Aoko begins her training under the tutelage of Alice
Kuonji, a young witch who inhabits a lonely mansion on top of a hill. As she
tries to balance her responsibilities as student council president and her
magical new life, the young woman must deal with the arrival of an exchange
student ignorant of the modern world and the dark ambitions of her older
sister, Toko Aozaki.
