Fans of
unbridled action and street art can breathe easy. After a pause that lasted for
several months so that its author could document himself and carry out research
for the story, the Gachiakuta manga finally has a return date to the
pages of Weekly Shonen Magazine.
Author Kei
Urana confirmed that the play will be back on November 11. Publication
of the manga had been temporarily halted in early August, when publisher
Kodansha released the combined chapter of the magazine's 36th and 37th issues.
At the time, the company explained that the pause was necessary for the creator
to carry out research and development tasks for the next arcs of the plot,
committing to give the exact date once it was defined.
The return
marks the end of a wait that kept Rudo's fans attentive, especially considering
the enormous growth that the work has had in recent times. Serialization
promises to resume the dizzying pace that characterizes it just when the story
is in one of its most intense moments.
Gachiakuta is a manga of action, fantasy and
urban elements written and illustrated by Kei Urana, with the
participation of Hideyoshi Ando in the design of the graffiti that adorns the
work. The story began publication in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in
February 2022, managing to accumulate 19 compilation volumes in the Japanese
market.
The plot
takes place in a floating city where the most privileged throw their waste into
the Abyss, a place inhabited by the poorest sectors of society. Rudo, a young
suburban dweller, is unjustly accused of a crime he did not commit and thrown
into the abyss as punishment. On the surface, filled with giant monsters born
from accumulated garbage, Rudo awakens a new power and joins a group known as
the Cleaners to seek revenge against those who condemned him. The popularity of
the manga prompted the creation of its first animated adaptation in July 2025,
with the production of its second season already confirmed.
