The Ramparts of Ice is not saying goodbye yet: it will have an unprecedented epilogue

If you thought that Koyuki Hikawa's story was over forever, it seems that its author still had some things to tell. The official account of The Ramparts of Ice (Koori no Joheki) announced that the manga will have a completely unpublished epilogue, which will be included in a new fanbook scheduled for January 4, 2027 in Japan.

The interesting thing is that this chapter will be written and illustrated by Kocha Agasawa herself, who will pick up the story after the events of the last chapter of the manga. For now, it has not been revealed which characters will appear or how much time will have passed since the original outcome, so readers will have to wait a little longer to find out what happened to their protagonists.

It should be remembered that The Ramparts of Ice concluded its publication in April 2022, while its fourteenth and final volume arrived in Japanese bookstores in February 2025. Therefore, this new epilogue will allow a return to a story that had been finished for several years, although a regular continuation of the work has not been announced.

For those who don't know the franchise, the story follows Koyuki Hikawa, a rather reserved high school student who prefers to stay away from her classmates. However, her quiet life begins to change when she meets Minato Amemiya, a boy who seems hell-bent on getting closer to her no matter how many barriers she tries to erect. They are joined by Miki Azumi and Yota Hino, completing a group of four teenagers who will have to deal with their feelings, insecurities and personal relationships.

The manga began serialization in January 2020 through LINE Manga and remained in publication until April 2022. Its popularity also allowed it to get an anime adaptation, the first season of which premiered in April 2026, followed by a second installment that began airing on October 1. Both productions have the animation of Studio KAI.

On the other hand, Agasawa is also known for You and I Are Polar Opposites, another romantic comedy that has managed to make a name for itself among manga readers. For now, those responsible for The Ramparts of Ice have not shared more details about the additional content of the fanbook, so we will have to wait to find out what other surprises will accompany the new epilogue.
