The official site of Mag Comi magazine from Mag Garden publisher announced that the new project announced for Kozue Amano's manga Aria will be an animated film. This project celebrates the 15th anniversary of the premiere of the anime adaptation and will premiere in the winter season.

This new feature film will feature Rina Satou (Mikoto Misaka in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun) playing Athena Glory, replacing the late Tomoko Kawakami.

For his part, Amano published the manga in Mag Garden magazine's Comic Blade magazine between November 2002 and April 2008, as a sequel to the Aqua manga. The publisher compiled the work in a total of twelve volumes.

The manga inspired a thirteen-episode anime adaptation released in October 2005, and produced by Hai Film Maker Studios. Subsequently, there were two additional seasons released in April 2006 and January 2008.
