Kadokawa listed the twelfth volume of the novels written by Manabu Kaminaga, Shinrei Tantei Yakumo as the last, after 16 years of publication.
The volume will be put on sale on June 25. Editorial Kadokawa had already announced that this volume would be delayed from its scheduled release on May 29 due to "some circumstances."
Kaminaga began publishing the Shinrei Tantei Yakumo novels in 2004. The series also includes eight spin-off novels that, together, have accumulated more than seven million copies in circulation.
The work inspired a thirteen-episode anime adaptation released in October 2010 and produced by Bee Train Studios. It also inspired a live-action series released in 2006 as well as multiple plays and two manga adaptations.
Synopsis of Shinrei Tantei Yakumo
The reserved high school student Yakumo Saitou was born with a red left eye that allows him to see spirits and ghosts. He uses this power in the hope that by communicating with them and solving the problems that bind them to this world, they will finally be able to rest in peace. One day, a girl named Haruka Ozawa appears before him asking for help to save a friend that she believes has been possessed by a spirit. Yakumo reluctantly agrees and later begins to engage in new mysteries, this time supported by Haruka.
