Pokémon: Charizard and Pikachu inspire medieval illustrations

The artist Gomi Kuzu Tarou published through his personal Twitter account a series of illustrations in medieval style starring Charizard and Pikachu, from the Pokémon franchise.



Gomi Kuzu Tarou is a renowned artist, popular with fans of the Pokémon franchise due to his surreal art that permeates his illustrations of Pokémon. His fame skyrocketed when he entered an art contest for the franchise's card game.

About Pokémon

Also known as Pocket Monsters in Japan, it is a multimedia franchise owned by The Pokémon Company, which in turn is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. The copyright of the brand is owned by the three companies, but only Nintendo can make use of them abroad.

Created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995 and focused on fictional creatures of the same name, Pokémon debuted with the game Pokémon Red & Green, released for the Nintendo Game Boy console in 1996. Furthermore, the animated series began its broadcast since April 1997. and it has to date 23 seasons, the most recent titled Pocket Monsters and released in November 2019.

However, this latest series recently announced the indefinite suspension of the broadcast of new episodes due to production problems generated by the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan. Netflix recently announced the addition of the series to its catalog starting in June in the United States, and has not confirmed its release in other territories.
