Furihata had already been showing solo activities, as highlighted in the publication of a photo shoot titled "Furuhata Photo Studio" in Photo Technique Digital magazine. According to the statement, the actress and singer has decided to sign with the recently established record company Purple One Star, belonging to Bandai Namco Arts (and becoming the first artist to have signed with it).
Her debut mini album titled "Moonrise" will be released in the fall season this year, and will feature songs written by Ai Furihata herself. For her part, Akimitsu Honma, who serves as a producer at the record company, serves as the composer willing to fulfill Furihata's desire to make music that evokes 80's pop.
