Fate / kaleid liner Prisma Illya manga surpasses 2.3 million copies in circulation

The manga series written and illustrated by Hiroshi Hiroyama, Fate / kaleid liner Prisma Illya, is reported to have surpassed 2.3 million copies in circulation with a total of eleven published compilation volumes.


Hiroshi Hiroyama published the manga in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine between 2007 and 2008. The story is an alternate universe of the Fate / Stay Night franchise, the visual novel developed by Type-Moon, with Illyaviel von Einzbern as the protagonist.

Several other characters in the franchise also make an appearance in this manga series. Subsequently, a sequel titled Fate / Kaleid liner Prism Illya 2wei! It was released between 2009 and 2012, followed by another sequel titled Fate / Kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3rei !! publication began in 2012 and to date has published a total of ten volumes.

In addition, the play inspired a ten-episode anime adaptation produced by Silver Link Studios and released in July 2013. A second season of ten episodes premiered in July 2014, followed by a third in July 2015, a fourth in July 2016, and an animated movie in 2017. Recently, the franchise confirmed the production of a new animated movie.

Synopsis for Fate / kaleid liner Prisma Illya

Rin Tohsaka and Luviagelita "Luvia" Edelfelt are given the mission to find the seven "Class Cards", legendary medieval artifacts that contain the life essence of Heroic Spirits. To help them, they are handed the power of Ruby and Sapphire, two powerful and intelligent Kaleidosticks who are capable of transforming into magical girls and greatly increasing their powers.

However, Rin and Luvia are on bad terms, leading the Kaleidosticks to abandon them and find new teachers. That's when they meet two girls, Illyasviel von Einzbern and Miyu, and convince them to make a contract. With new powers and responsibilities, Illya and Miyu will now have to search for the “Class Cards”.
