Manga artists illustrate the covers of classic novels

At the summer children's book fair “Kimi wa Mada, Meisaku no Omoshirosa wo Shiranai”, the launch of new editions of eight classic children's novels was announced, with covers drawn by acclaimed manga illustrators. The list of participating artists includes (from left to right and from top to bottom):

  • Inio Asano drew the Botchan cover, written by Natsume Soseki.
  • Paru Itagaki (BEASTARS) drew the cover of Doctor Dolittle written by Hugh Lofting.
  • Haruko Ichikawa (Houseki no Kuni) drew the cover of Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru, written by Kenji Miyazawa.
  • Hiroyuki Eto (Mahoujin Guru Guru) drew the cover of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum.
  • Sumito Owara (Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!) Drew the cover of Two Yeras ’Vacation, written by Jules Verne.
  • Sukerakko (Ohkii Inu) drew the cover of Chuumon no Oui Ryouriten, written by Kenji Miyazawa.
  • Arina Tanemura (Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne) drew the cover of The Twins at St. Clare’s, written by Enid Blyton.
  • Lily Hoshino (Otome Youkai Zakuro) drew the cover of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, written by Robert Louis Stevenson.









The books will be available for sale during the aforementioned fair, which will start in Japan in the middle of this month. Those who buy a book will be able to get a bag decorated with one of the aforementioned cover illustrations. 50 bags of each illustration will be available, making it a limited quantity.
