Strike the Blood light novels exceed 2.5 million copies in circulation

In the headline of the Strike the Blood: Append 2 light novel, it was revealed that the series of light novels written by Gakuto Mikumo and illustrated by Manyako, Strike the Blood has exceeded 2.5 million copies in circulation.


Mikumo and Manyako began publishing the light novels through the Kadokawa publisher's Dengeki Bunko imprint in 2011. The publisher published the twenty-first volume on January 10th and will publish the twenty-second and last volume on 7th January. August. The play was adapted for manga by TATE, who began serializing the manga in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in 2012 and completed it in 2017.

The light novels also inspired a 24-episode anime adaptation in 2013, as well as two seasons of OVAs in 2015 and between 2016-2017. Strike the Blood III, the third season of OVAs, premiered through five releases between December 2018 and September 25. Each installment had two episodes, to bring together a total of ten. A fourth season of OVAs is currently broadcast through Blu-ray releases.

Synopsis of Strike the Blood

The school-action fantasy story begins with Kojou Akatsuki, a boy considered “the fourth parent,” the most powerful vampire in the world, who was once thought to exist only in legends and stories. In the Itogamijima area specialized for demons, a girl named Yukina Himeragi is entrusted with the task of watching over the vampire and if necessary, hunting him down.
