What happened after Sukuna? Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveals a nightmarish future

The battle between Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna was not only the climax of an era, but the event that physically doomed Japan forever. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the official sequel to Yuji Itadori's story, is set 62 years after the original events and has finally revealed the long-term scars left by the confrontation between the two strongest sorcerers. And the answer is pure nightmare fuel.

In chapter 12 of Jujutsu Kaisen Module, we are introduced to the current state of the ancient capital. After the defeat of the King of Curses, the government decided to tell the world that the cursed spirits originated in Tokyo in order to concentrate the global panic on a single point. The result is the "Inhuman Makyo": a city in quarantine, uninhabitable and full of curses of all levels.

What was once the scene of the Shibuya incident and the Battle of Shinjuku is now an apocalyptic wasteland that looks like something out of a pure horror story. The streets are dominated by monstrosities, serving as a grotesque monument to Sukuna's sins.

The impact was such that Japan had to change its capital, a historical event that had only happened twice before (in 794 to Kyoto and in 1868 to Tokyo). Ryomen Sukuna achieved in six months of reincarnation what few villains achieve: alter the political geography of the country. And to add to the tension, Modulo's story suggests that Sukuna's last finger is still missing, leaving the door open that the terror of the Inhuman Makyo is not the end of this story.
