The Ice
Blade Sorcerer is ready to return to the battlefield. The production of the
animated adaptation of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Hyoken
no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu) released the main trailer for its
long-awaited second season, confirming that the series will return
to screens next October with several surprises in its crew and voice cast.
The new
promotional trailer served as the stage to present "Diamond Dust",
the opening theme performed by the musical project Sizuk. For her
part, the renowned singer and voice actress Maaya Uchida will
be in charge of putting the closing theme with the song "Compression
:[". However, the most striking change of this installment occurs behind
the scenes, as the Zero-G studio will take the reins of
animation in replacement of the production house of the first installment.
Despite the
change of studio, Masahiro Takata returns to direct the
series, also being in charge of writing the script and the sound direction. He
is accompanied in writing by Tomoko Shinozuka and Takahito
Onishi, while Mariko Kawamoto takes on the character
design. As for the cast, the production announced the incorporation of Miyu
Kubota in the role of Elisa Griffith, replacing Nana Harumura, who had
to retire from acting at the beginning of the year due to health problems. The
cast also joins Hana Hishikawa as Olivia Arnold, along with
the return of well-known names such as Junya Enoki in the
leading role of Ray White, accompanied by Soichiro Hoshi, Haruka Shiraishi,
Ryohei Kimura, Aoi Koga and Konomi Kohara.
Born as a
series of light novels written by Nana Mikoshiba and
illustrated by Riko Korie, the work debuted on the Shosetsuka ni
Naro website in October 2019 before making the leap to print format in July
2020. The franchise had a manga adaptation drawn by Norihito Sasaki that
concluded at the beginning of 2024, giving way to a direct sequel published in
May of this year.
The story
follows Ray White, a seemingly ordinary and somewhat clumsy young man who
enters the prestigious Arnold Academy of Magic. Although his companions
underestimate him, he actually hides the identity of the legendary Sorcerer of
the Ice Blade, one of the most powerful wizards in the world. After overcoming
the first school obstacles, the second season will take Ray beyond the walls of
the academy to face large-scale magical conflicts alongside teams of three as
new threats emerge.
