The statement states:
“Thank you for always supporting the World Cosplay Summit event. As a result of careful consideration of the impact of holding this event from various points of view, it has been decided that this year's edition will be canceled.
We would like to show our appreciation to those participants who looked forward to attending this event. However, for those cosplayers, photographers and sponsors who have supported and participated in this convention, we want to communicate the following:
Although next year the event will surely take place without any problem, we would like to inform that this year's edition will be held online with the title “World Cosplay Summit 2020 Online”, between August 1 and 2, 2020.
Details will be revealed during a presentation to be held on July 1 at 7:00 p.m. (Japan Standard Time).
