The series with a total of ten episodes. For its part, Sakyo Komatsu first published the original novels in 1973, after nine years of writing. The novels have already been adapted into a 1973 live-action film directed by Shiro Moritani, a 1975 television series, and a 2006 remake directed by Shinji Higuchi.
