Comiket staff announced that they plan to reschedule the winter edition of this great event for the end of April 2021 when the golden week is celebrated in Japan. In addition, it was revealed that a new venue will also be sought to house the thousands of visitors they will receive since the usual venue where the convention is held, the Tokyo Big Sight, will not be available to hold events until the fall of 2021 due to the organization of the Tokyo Olympics which are planned for August of that year.

In the same announcement it was announced that they are considering planning a project to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the convention, which would be held at the next Comiket.

The 98th edition of the Comiket was scheduled to take place last May, however, it was canceled as a preventive measure against the outbreak of COVID-19 in Japan.
