On the official site for the Aikatsu! Idol franchise, it was announced that an online survey will be conducted to select the eight members of a new music unit called Aikatsu 8 2020. The survey will be conducted in commemoration of the franchise's ninth anniversary and to the announcement of the new project. The eight girls selected from the four series will support this new project through their activities as a musical unit.
In the first anime, the original Aikatsu 8 unit was formed twice. Members of the first formed in 2014 included Mizuki Kanzaki, Mikuru Natsuki, Ichigo Hoshimiya, Otome Arisugawa, Yurika Todo, Seira Otoshiro, Sora Kazesawa and Maria Himesato. During the voting period, fans will be able to vote for one idol from each series every 24 hours, which includes Aikatsu! (26 members), Aikatsu Stars! (14 members), Aikatsu Friends! (11 members) and Aikatsu on Parade! (one member but the user can vote for others in this section), which means that you can vote for a total of four girls a day. The three most voted for Aikatsu !, the two for Aikatsu Stars !, the two for Aikatsu Friends! and the most voted Aikatsu on Parade! will be chosen as the members of the musical unit "Aikatsu 8 2020".
More details about this survey, including the period for receiving votes, will be revealed on August 10 at 9:00 p.m. (Japan Standard Time), just three hours after the official announcement of the new project of the franchise, which will be given during the “Bandai x BN Festival” event, which will be broadcast through YouTube, LINE LIVE and Bandai Channel at 6:00 pm on the same day.
