During its
panel at Anime Expo 2025, Bandai Namco Filmworks announced
that Crunchyroll will stream the two parts of the compilation
film based on the first season of the IDOLiSH7 anime. The first
part will hit theaters in Japan on October 3, 2025, while the
second will be released on December 5, 2025 (local time).
The IDOLiSH7 anime,
based on the popular smartphone game of the same name, originally debuted in
January 2018 with a 17-episode series. From the first
moment, Crunchyroll broadcast the series simultaneously with
Japan. Later, in February 2018, IDOLiSH7 Vibrato was
launched, a spin-off series in the format of animated shorts distributed over
the internet.
Steady growth with each season
The second season premiered in April 2020,
although its first episode was brought forward to January of that same year.
Due to the pandemic, the broadcast was temporarily interrupted after episode 4,
resuming from episode 3 in October 2020.
The third season, titled IDOLiSH7 Third
Beat!, aired in two parts: the first in July 2021 and the second in October
2022. In total, this installment had 30 episodes, ending in
February 2023 with the consecutive broadcast of chapters 27 to 30.
A success also on the big screen
In May 2023, the franchise released IDOLiSH7 the
Movie LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD, an animated concert that debuted in
Japanese theaters to great acclaim. In its opening weekend alone, the film
grossed 220 million yen (about $1.58 million),
surpassing 700 million yen (about $5 million)
after 22 days and selling more than 440,000 tickets. The premiere
coincided with the franchise's eighth anniversary in June
2023.
Now, fans around the world will be able to relive the start
of the IDOLiSH7 phenomenon in cinematic format via Crunchyroll,
with a special edition that promises to thrill both new viewers and longtime
fans.
