The developer Area-ZERO published a promotional video for the video game Touhou Sky Arena: Matsuri Climax, and confirmed that the delivery will have a launch for PC via Steam. The page listed the launch for the month of September of this year.

The game features Japanese audio and English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitles. The installment also has online multiplayer for up to four players and more than 90 songs as a soundtrack.

Distributor Mediascape and Area-ZERO released the version of Touhou Sky Arena: Matsuri Climax for the Nintendo Switch console in January 2019, after being delayed multiple times from an originally scheduled release in November 2018.

Finally, the Touhou Sky Arena sub-franchise is a fighting game that includes 20 characters from the main Touhou Project franchise, and more than 70 songs. The songs play an important role in the game since each one awakens different levels of "Tension" in the character, which gives them access to different abilities or (in the case of low Tension) disables them. While each song has different effects, the flow of Tension restarts when the song does as well.
