On the official site for the Kyoto Animation-produced animated film, Violet Evergarden the Movie, the feature film was reported to have sold a total of 390,000 tickets for a gross of 559 million yen (approximately $ 5.31 million) at just five days of its premiere in Japan (this because Monday and Tuesday were holidays).
The above means that this new film has grossed 76.4% more than its predecessor titled Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou, which eventually amassed a final gross of 831 million yen (approximately $ 7.90 million). Finally, this new movie has an average gross per show of 1.64 million yen (roughly $ 15,600).
The film opened in Japanese theaters on September 18 after being delayed twice due to the attack on the first studio building and the massive closure of cinemas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
