Sono Bisque Doll fans frustrated that 'there was no delicious'

When it comes to the most relevant rom - coms today, Shinichi Fukuda 's manga Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru ( My Dress-Up Darling ) is an immediate choice for many. This is a real surprise, since about two years ago the work went unnoticed by the general public, and it is a sample of what can be achieved when a good anime adaptation is made.

Believe it or not, the story of Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo is of seinen demographics, that is, it is aimed at young adults, just like Kaguya-sama: Love is War was in its time. For this very reason, fans know that, at some point, the relationship between the two protagonists will not only reach courtship, but also "delicious", especially considering that both have already had "very close experiences" in the past.

And so we come to the long-awaited Chapter 94, where Christmas finally arrives in the manga story. It would be a Christmas like any other if in dozens of previous chapters we had not been constantly reminded that Marin Kitagawa had decided to declare her love to Wakana Gojo and even reach "something more". For this reason, in previous chapters we were able to see Marin buy lingerie and even prepare for this moment expected not only by her, but also by the readers.

At the beginning of the chapter we can see how Marin went to put on her makeup, fix her hair and nails, to spend Christmas with the Gojo (Wakana and her grandfather), in addition to thinking about what she will prepare for dinner for the occasion (for which she was also practicing in the previous chapters). However, everything goes to waste when Grandpa is confused by Marin's attitude, and it turns out that the Gojo do not celebrate Christmas !

Marin is totally disappointed, but still trusts that Wakana will spend time with her. This hope is quickly dashed when we see the protagonist leave his room, exhausted, as he has been working on an intricate new cosplay for Marin. Gojo has been demanding to himself that "everything must be perfect", so he doesn't even taste much of the food that Marin had prepared for the occasion and leaves.

Grandpa explains to Marin that being obsessed with recreating what they have imagined in their head is typical of people who create things, and asks her to make sure to praise the things her grandson does. Marin assures him that he always does, so he tells her that Wakana is lucky to have her. After Christmas dinner, Marin leaves Wakana a note telling her that she has put the leftovers in the fridge and leaves.

Thus concludes an arc "sells smoke", as the spectators have labeled it. It is not the first time that Marin's plans to declare her love to the protagonist fail, but this result was unexpected considering that the play had reminded over and over again that "Christmas would be the promised date." While some are furious in the same way that Marin was in the episode, others believe that this route is the right one, since focusing on two things in the same story (cosplay and romance) is not the right thing to do at this point.

What's more, Shinichi Fukuda has reported that this Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru arc is requiring more pages than normal for each installment , so he has decided to only publish one chapter a month, and not one every two weeks, as had been done in recent years. All this, of course, attracted comments:

  • « I don't know why I feel that grandfather is about to die, is it only me who believes it? ».
  • « Well, everything went wrong, but at least the grandfather already gave his approval to the relationship between Marin and Wakana, or had he not already? ».
  • « This arc is extremely long and tiring to read, it would be a bad idea to adapt it into an anime series, so it will probably be in a movie format ».
  • « As a writer, I can understand the need to achieve perfection in every aspect of your work. Human beings are inherently greedy, so we can notice the slightest flaws in our work. I understand Wakana Gojo's attitude as an artist, but it really doesn't feel good to see him as a spectator ».
  • Damn Gojo! Could you please stop obsessing over cosplay for one freaking day? ».
  • This arc started out pretty good, but it's slowly going downhill ."
  • « Yes, I saw it coming. I feel bad for Marin, especially for everything that happened in previous chapters, but at least it looks like she got the nod from grandpa ."
  • Wow , she even bought red lingerie for the occasion. She was ready for everything, but Gojo didn't care at all ».
  • « Even if someone doesn't celebrate Christmas, at least they know the damn date on which it is celebrated. Who is going to believe that? ».
  • « You yourself made him make the cosplay, obviously he will not have time for you ».
  • Marin was ready for sex, but she hadn't realized she was courting a frustrated craftsman ."
  • It looks like the confession will now be delayed until they show the finished cosplay I guess ."
  • « Wow, so I was sold smoke for about twenty chapters, dammit! ».
