The production of the
anime adaptation of the manga written by Katarina and
illustrated by Ryousuke Fuji , Shangri-La Frontier:
Crappy Game Hunter Challenges God-Tier Game , announced that the
project will have a second season that will premiere
this coming October in Japan. It was also revealed that this
sequel will last for two consecutive cours (quarters) .
For its part, Fuji
began publishing the Shangri-La Frontier manga
in Kodansha 's Weekly
Shonen Magazine in July 2020. The manga is based on the novel
series of the same name written by Katarina , which is
published through from the Shousetsuka ni Narou site since
May 2017. Katarina also wrote an additional series of novels that were
published in Weekly Shonen Magazine itself .

Hizutome, a second-year high school student, is only interested in one thing:
finding “shitty games” and beating them up. His gaming ability is second to
none, and no game is too bad for him. So when he's introduced to the new
virtual reality game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best: max out
and skip the prologue to jump right into the action. But can even an expert
player like Rakurou discover all the secrets that Shangri-La Frontier hides?
