The anime adaptation of Baki Hanma had two seasons, released in September 2021 and July 2023, respectively, and distributed by  Netflix  globally.

For his part, Itagaki published the manga in the magazine  Weekly Shonen Champion  from the publisher Akita Shoten between March 2014 and April 2018, with a total of twenty-two compilation volumes published. Subsequently, a second part was published from October 2018 to June 2023 in the same magazine, achieving seventeen compilation volumes.

BAKI-DOU Synopsis

Baki Hanma, increasingly satisfied with his title of “Strongest Boy in the World,” spends his days in boredom. Having finally resolved the dispute with his demonic father Yuujirou, Baki defends his title in the Kourakuen Underground Arena while he stifles yawns caused by the ease with which he defeats his challengers. Baki's friends and mentors also struggle with this new, peaceful immobility, completing great feats of strength training with little enthusiasm.

Soon, Japan is rocked by the revelation of a long-gestating scientific experiment that results in the successful cloning of the legendary samurai Musashi Miyamoto. The famous warrior enjoys testing his strength against Baki and other Tokyo fighting icons, but he has a hard time assimilating into the modern era. Miyamoto clings to his ancient ideals of honor and duel to the death, a philosophy that clashes with the calmer present.

As the resurrected swordsman attempts to rise to the top of this unknown society by fighting his way through Baki's friends, he finds himself on a collision course with the vengeful teenager. Baki gets carried away with emotion and faces his new rival.
