After a prolonged silence that kept fans of the “ One-Punch Man ”
franchise in suspense, the long-awaited update on SONY's live-action film has
finally arrived. And, according to a recent report from The Hollywood
Reporter, the writers of the popular animated series “Rick and Morty”
have been selected to write the script for this film adaptation.
Dan Harmon, the genius behind “Rick and Morty,”
has teamed up with Heather Anne Campbell, co-executive producer of the same
series, to work on the film's script. This news has excited
fans who have been eager to learn more details about the project, especially
after a long period of uncertainty.
The report also highlights that the script is currently
being revised and rewritten, while Justin Lin remains confirmed as the film's
director. This collaboration between the creative team of “Rick and
Morty” and the director of the “Fast & Furious” film saga has raised great
expectations among “One-Punch Man” fans.
The reveal of the live-action “One-Punch Man” movie
surprised fans in 2021, when it was announced that Scott Rosenberg and Jeff
Pinkner, known for their work on “Venom,” would be the first to write the
script. Now, with the talents of Harmon and Campbell on board, the film
is expected to reach new heights and meet the expectations of the most
discerning fans.
The film will be produced by Justin Lin, Avi Arad and Ari
Arad of Arad Productions, who are hopeful that this project will mark
the beginning of a successful “One-Punch Man” film franchise . Avi
Arad, in particular, has extensive experience in live-action adaptations,
having worked on projects such as “Ghost in the Shell (2017)” and the upcoming
adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda.”
It should be noted that anime film adaptations
have not enjoyed a good reputation among fans, due to multiple failures in the
past. However, with the “Rick and Morty” creative team at
the helm, as well as the support of talented producers, “One-Punch Man” fans
remain hopeful that this adaptation will be the exception to the rule.
The story of “One-Punch Man,” which began as a webcomic
created by artist ONE, has undergone several adaptations over the years. From
its popular manga by Yusuke Murata to its hit anime series produced by
Madhouse, the franchise has amassed a devoted fan base around the world.
Despite some criticism of its second season, made by
JCSTAFF, fans celebrated the announcement of the third season still in
production. At the moment, the live-action “One-Punch Man” movie does
not have a confirmed release date , but fans are eager to see how this
exciting project develops and how the essence of the series is translated to
film.
