It's been a while since the remake of Rumiko
Takahashi 's popular manga , “ Urusei Yatsura, ”
began, however, one Twitter user revived a question that many have been
wondering since the first episode: why has so much of the erotic/ecchi
content been been toned down or even cut?

Many of the oldest anime fans are delighted with the return
of a series from yesteryear like “Urusei Yatsura”, but obviously a series from
more than forty years ago will not fit in the same way by today's
standards. As entertaining as the story of “Urusei Yatsura” is, some of
its material, themes and characters definitely don't fit modern sensibilities.
To clarify, it's not that Japan is against the
idea of showing explicit content. If the target audience is
right, an anime is free to show all the gore and sexual content it wants. That
said, what can be shown to the general public is very different than it used to
be. Nowadays it is no longer frowned upon to show female nipples or excessive
violence to the general public. And the first point is precisely what
happens with “Urusei Yatsura”.
In the original series from over forty years
ago, the anime had no problem showing Lum's bare breasts. However,
in this new remake they have always remained covered. It is evident
that any other series that included this type of content will have to go
through the same change if it gets a remake.
Well, now you know why these types of changes
have to be made when series from almost half a century ago are brought back. But
of course, the comments were immediate:

- « Does
she have the body of a mannequin or does she have extremely tiny nipples? ».
- « I
have always thought that this type of censorship makes no sense. Do they
want us to think they have tiny halos? ».
- « In
fact, many years ago nipples were allowed on television. What a sensitive
world we have today .

you want nipples, go watch the anime from forty years ago or the original
manga ."

makes me laugh that Urusei Yatsura is remembered precisely for the many
times Lum overtaught ."

is it a problem to show female nipples on television in the first place? I
certainly don't understand it .
